Does galprop give correct gamma ray fluxes? I tried to calculate the total galactic background flux integrating over the the sky and over energies. On the DC2 galprop output (GP_gamma.fits) our routine yielded a result that doesn't match with the declared flux (~19 m^-2 s^-1) . Is it my fault or did you correct the integral flux to match EGRET measurements? Luigi.

which energies did you integrate over ? typical galprop runs
cover a larger range than EGRET.
Better would be to compare the spectrum over a region of the
inner Galaxy.

I integrated over energies from 10 MeV to 660 GeV. In the GP_gamma.fits file you say that the integrated flux over 10 Mev is something like 19 m^-2 s^-1. I need to know the total flux form other galprop runs to use them in gtobssim, so I wrote a routine to calculate it, but I am disappointed because that routine doesn't give for GP_gamma.fits the flux above. I would like to know if 19 m^-2 s^-1 is the correct flux from this model (so my program is wrong) or if there is some other trick. Thanks, Luigi Tibaldo.

I am not aware of the GP_gamma.fits format - it is not output
from galprop. Is that a GLAST format ? In that case will have to
ask whoever generated it.
