Note: the recently (Nov 2017) released galprop v56 includes some of the enhancements and bugfixes to the original v54.
These are at https://gitlab.mpcdf.mpg.de/aws/galprop (developed and released 2013-2015).
v56 lacks documentation but at least those parts are documented in the aforesaid v54 upgrade.

Where to find the sample GALDEF & FITS files for galprop v56? It's not shipped with v56 source.

There is a single example galdef file explaining all the options. The FITS file for v54 and v56 are identical and are downloaded separately.

obtained from the code download region. Nevertheless, the example GALDEF file "galdef_56_example" should be updated as following

another related question. For v56, which version of the manual fits better, galprop_explanatory_supplement.pdf or galprop_v54.pdf?

galprop_explanatory_supplement.pdf (2015).
(galprop_v54.pdf is old)
But neither covers the 2017 updates.
