Dear all,
i have some questions about point source option.
what do cell time and live time mean?
what is cell phase? why is it random?
why are all of them distribution class?

In the part of point souces of cr in the manual,
what is source distribution?
Does it mean the injected flux under steady state?
lf yes, i think it may be the injected flux per SNR
multiplied by explosion rate and SNR's spatial
distribution.
what does source function mean?

finally, can the solution compare with other
green functions under delta function?
How to set up in galdef?

Thank you very much for your reply!

These terms are explained in the Explanatory Supplement, section 6. Did you read that? It is perhaps not detailed enough.

Thank you very much!
I read it, but i am still confused.
If I want to compute the flux from
single source, should I just open n_cr_source
and set SNR_event = 0?
And just set the information of source's
position, luminosity...
It seems that SNR_EVENTS, SNR_INTERVAL,
SNR_LIVETIME.... are used to generate a series
of random sources during some time.
Is it right?

Thank you very much for you reply!

Yes you are right. Separate sources are handled with n_cr_source and related parameters.
The SNR option is for random sources, which is not what you want.
NB of course use the 3D option in this context!

Dear Prof. Strong,
Thank you for your reply!
But how to set injected time for a particular source
in galdef, if I want to obtain a time dependent solution
of instantaneous point source?

Best wishes,
Wei

Dear Prof. Strong,
I found a past answer in the following link,
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=184

Is it right if I make same modifications?

Best wishes,
Wei

This is a good start. You only need to modify it if you need extended and/or time-varying sources.

Dear Prof. Strong,

Now the total_source_function = particle .primary_source_function;
is in line 1296.(version 54.1.984)

NB use the latest version at http://sourceforge.net/projects/galprop
