Tests have been made on the accuracy of the GALPROP propagation algorithm, comparing the accelerated solution with short-timestep runs. These are documented in the current version of the Explanatory Supplement, section 11 (get it from the Webrun Code page). In addition, new diagnostics are implemented in the Webrun version of GALPROP, and these can be invoked in the Advanced User mode. The essential point is that the accelerated solutions should be used with caution, checked for different timesteps and compared with accurate (but long!) short constant timestep runs. The Webrun server is powerful enough to do such long runs in reasonable time. |
