Hi,

I'm a first-time GALPROP user, thanks to WebRun.

Now that I have my first results I started analyzing them with python scripts (using the pyfits & kapteyn packages). Specifically I e.g. want to:
1) Compute the ascii gamma-ray emission spectrum given on the WebRun results page when clicking on the plot from the FITS cubes.
2) Compute spectra for sub-regions defined e.g. by a ds9 region file.
3) Make maps that show e.g. integral flux in some energy band I choose from the cubes.
4) Summarize differences between GALPROP runs.

I think I can get it all working, but if someone has a small python library of tried-and-tested functions to work with GALPROP output, I would appreciate very much if you shared it.

Thanks!
Christoph

Hi Christoph,

There is a product that can help you, and posting it on the web site on my list! I will write back to you shortly. Meanwhile, if you develop your own routines, you can check them against use the plots produced by WebRun. Did you notice that in addition to the plot, you can get the ASCII file with numerical data that is plotted by clicking the figure.

Andrey
